A male Smew was present in the Blessington Street Basin this morning at 8.45, I spotted the same bird there last Thursday but it appears to have laid low or moved somewhere else in the interim.EM

How about this for a garden bird, seen this evening in my back garden? It's an Eastern Rosella, from SE Australia. I'm sure it's an escapee, in spite of the recent SE winds -- hardly likely to have been blown here all the way from Australia! OM

Coolock:   A Blackbird just dipped into Cadbury's factory for easter.  No, it didn't fall into the white chocolate barrel, it's white feathers are the result of leucism, a condition which affects the pigmentation of the skin. Unlike albinism, it does not turn the eyes pink.
