Rogerstown Estuary/Turvey Park:  numerous Bullfinches; Blackcaps raiding the fruit tree buds; Blackbirds, Mistle Thrush, Coal/Blue/Great Tits; and Goldcrest all along the new Allotment fence. The pathway before the 'Scrape' a Water Rail surprised me when spotting it scarpering into the water ditch. Two 1st winter Mute Swans with nesting pair of Coot, Moorhen & Little Grebes, with a few Swallows and Sand Martins, Song Thrush & Wren were also at the 'Scrape'. At the 'Bull Field' bridge a Kingfisher flew along the ditch towards the estuary. House Sparrows, Robins, Dunnocks, Starlings, Goldfinches, Chaffinch, Greenfinches, Jackdaws, Rooks, Hooded Crows, Magpies, Collared Doves, Woodpigeons were everwhere. From the Turvey South hide we saw Pheasants, Wigeon, Teal, Lapwings, Mallard, 60+Brent Geese, Black-tailed Godwits, Shelduck, Oystercatcher, Turnstone, Redshank, Little Egrets, Grey Herons, Cormorants, Great Black-backed Gulls, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Herring Gulls, Common Gulls, Black-headed Gulls, 1 Grey Plover, 1 Reed Bunting, 1 Whimbrel, 3 Buzzards & a Red Kite spotted way in the distance. John & myself moved on to Broadmeadows Estuary spotting the single Whooper Swan among the Mute Swans, Tufted Duck, Bar-tailed Godwits, Pied Wagtails & 1 Grey Wagtail, Long-tailed Tits, with more Mallards, Redshank, Coot, Moorhens, Wigeon & Teal.BC

Howth Garden:  I photographed this Hooded Crow in my Howth garden today (7th April). He has a lot of white feathers.  He has been around for some time with some other crows, and they are busily digging up the garden for insects or worms.  Initially I though that they were looking for bedding for nests.BQ
