Wood Quay: Delighted to see 3 Swifts circling over
the nest boxes on the Civic Offices Wood Quay at 8 a.m. this
morning. The nest boxes where installed last year, thanks to
the enthusiam of Helen Burke of Dublin City Council. Hopefully
next year these three Swifts will consider nesting in this prime
location. It's a happy reminder to keep looking up high in
the city for Swifts. Also, please take part in the National
Swift Survey 2014...for more details click here.RD

Sand Martins, 4 Black Guillemot.

Looking across
at Ireland's Eye: 2 Peregrine Falcons
standing in their cave nest.

Cliffs at Nose
of Howth: Cliff-nesting sea birds with chicks were Guillemots
and Shags. Other nesting birds were Razorbills
and Kittiwakes. 1 Kestrel hovering and 2 Raven
causing a moment of worry for a couple of Herring Gull,
who escorted them from their airspace.

Balscadden: 3 Whitethroat, 1 Willow
Warbler, 2 Reed Bunting, juvenile Dunnock,
several Linnets, Meadow Pipits, Blackbirds,
Wren, Robin, House Martin, Swallow, Swift and Hooded
Crow. RD

Sandycove: 13 Mediterranean Gulls at Sandycove at
13.30: 8 Adults, 4 2nd-Summer Birds, 1
3rd-Summer Birds. No sign of any colour rings although the birds
did not really respond to being fed. If anyone gets any colour
rings can they please pass them on to Camille Duponcheel cduponcheel59@orange.fr.SK

Tolka River Valley Park: Mandarin duck (fm) with 4
chicks (this is a 2nd female) the first female has only 1 chick
left, about 3 weeks older than this brood. 3 Kingfishers
(not sure if parents on newborn), 2 Little Egrets on
what could be a nest, Cormorant, Blackcaps and
Reed Bunting.BC
