Turvey South Hide: An excellent days sightings had by
all from the Turvey South Hide - standing room only at one stage.
Weather wise, it was a very changeable day, from dawn to dusk.
Bird wise, we had great sightings of 2 Peregrines in the
field opposite, 2 Kestrels hovering close by, a Merlin
across the river bed, 2 Buzzards acting the 'Kestrel', a
single Red Kite, Snipe, Pheasants, Little
Egrets, Little Grebes (27), Shovelers, Wigeon,
Teal, Golden Plovers, Grey Plovers, Dunlin,
Sanderling, Brent Geese, Shelducks, Mallards,
Cormorants, Great Black-backed Gulls, Lesser
Black-backed Gulls, Herring Gulls, Black-headed
Gulls, Grey Herons, Oystercatchers, Lapwings
(glorious in flight), Ringed Plovers, Black-tailed
Godwits, Curlews, Greenshanks, Redshanks,
Woodpigeons, Collared Doves, Meadow Pipit, Robin,
Blackbird, Mistle Thrush, Stonechats, Wren,
Blue Tit, Great Tit, Jackdaws, Rooks, Hooded
Crows, Magpies, Starlings, House Sparrows,
Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Greenfinches, Linnets
& Reed Buntings.BC

Malahide: Out the Estuary in Malahide were circ 50 Red-breasted
Mergansers; 10 Great-crested Grebes.MH
Finglas: On my early morning walk with the dog along the Tolka
River Finglas along with the usual suspects where 2 Kingfishers,
one at Scribblestown foot bridge, the other at Finglaswood Bridge;
3 Grey Wagtails together feeding on grass bank, east of
Rathoath Bridge while the river was in heavy flow; 1 Snipe
which was scared up by my dog; 3 Mute Swans which
have settled in to one of the 'Three Ponds' and a Dipper
